With the outstanding partnership of assistant coaches, supportive parents, and dedicated, hardworking students, I coached three middle school academic teams that placed first in the Kentucky State Governor's Cup Competition. My teams also scored first or within the top five in the Knowledge Master Academic Computer Competition on several occasions. I, by no means, take all the credit for their accomplishments; for their success was a result of a concentrated team effort. Did we enjoy winning? Absolutely. More significantly, the team members developed valuable study and test-taking skills, increased their self-confidence, and learned the importance of working as a team. Many of these students through the years qualified for full college scholarships as much as four years ahead of their senior year in high school....Linda Kaye
