STUDY SMART-SPECIAL LEARNING OPPORTUNITY-- (Category #2)

Too many students focus on the negative rather than the positive. I like to help students access what they are already doing right and build on those strengths. Using the "Study Skills Self-Evaluation," the students and I will take a careful look at what works well for them. Then block by block, we will build their self-confidence as we practice techniques that will help them achieve.

I will also help them assess what learning style works best for them. Some students learn best through reading; others prefer to listen; others like to take a more "hands-on" approach. I help them to see that there is no one best style; and that by determining what style works best for them, they can utilize that style to help them learn more difficult material.
